Hello everyone. Siobhan told me a bit about the Tribe when she invited me, and I've made a comment or two but I thought it's about time for me to give an official introduction. I'm 27, and live in Mid-City LA with my sweetie and three other guys in an art studio/gallery space. I grew up in the Valley, and lived in Portland, OR for six years before I moved back to LA in 2003, so I'm still getting to know the city. I'm not working at the moment, but feeling my way towards a career focused on health issues (public health, enviro health, food politics, etc). Aside from knitting, I do a bit of sewing as well and would love to do more. The cost of supplies for crafty projects is a major barrier for me, so if you have any suggestions of ways I could acquire used/discarded materials, let me know.
I started learning to knit after Christmas, when my sweetie gave me Stitch 'N' Bitch. Don't tell him, but I actually wanted to learn to crochet. In order to spare his feelings, I figured I'd give knitting a try, and then maybe transition to crochet, or do both. I'm still working on my first project, a scarf, but I'm loving it so far. I'm starting a knitting circle for support as I learn as well as companionship. Our first circle was last Monday, and if anyone is interested in joining us, we're meeting Monday evenings, just msg me for details.
